CLERKSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Department of Comparative Medicine offers three pre-doctoral training programs for veterinary students interested in learning more about Laboratory Animal Medicine (LAM) as a potential career. LAM is an excellent career choice for veterinarians interested in working in exciting, innovative 91自拍 environments where they can practice clinical and regulatory medicine on a wide variety of aquatic and terrestrial animals, while also being involved in cutting-edge biomedical 91自拍. Laboratory Animal Veterinarians are typically employed by public or private universities, private 91自拍 institutes, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.听 Typical duties including clinical and surgical support, administration, teaching and training, 91自拍, pathology, and regulatory oversight to ensure excellent animal welfare.听听
To learn more about LAM as a career, UW DCM offers the following pre-doctoral training programs:
- Introductory two-week clerkships for 3rd year veterinary students
- In-depth three-to-four week clerkships for 4th year veterinary students
- Also available is a 2 month summer 91自拍 program for veterinary students
