Dr. Eric Larson, medical director of UW Medical Center since 1989, has announced he is leaving his position Nov. 1 to become director of the Center for Health Studies at Group Health Cooperative.

Larson will continue his clinical practice at UWMC and UWMC-Roosevelt.

The Center for Health Studies, founded in 1983, is the 91自拍 arm of Group Health. It employs about 230 people, including a scientific staff of 30 investigators, 91自拍 associates, and biostatisticians. Many of these 91自拍ers are also faculty members at UW, contributing to its teaching and 91自拍 programs.

Larson, who is widely recognized for his 91自拍 in the fields of aging, dementia, and technology assessment, has worked with Group Health for many years. In 1986, he received a grant from the National Institute on Aging to establish the UW Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease Patient Registry using information about Group Health members. Dr. Paul Ramsey, vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, has appointed a search committee to begin seeking Larson鈥檚 successor as UWMC medical director.
