Luis C. Moll will be featured at a symposium celebrating the 10th anniversary of the UW’s Center for Multicultural Education. The event will be on Friday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Walker-Ames Room, Kane Hall.
The symposium, The Development of Biliteracy in Children: The Mediating Role of Ideologies, will highlight Moll’s 91×ÔÅÄ on literacy and bilingual learning.
Moll is a professor in the department of language, reading and culture at the University of Arizona. His 91×ÔÅÄ focuses on sociocultural approaches to child development and education, literacy and bilingual learning. His work has shown how low-income Mexican-American families’ strategies for survival against poverty and discrimination can be used to assist students’ social and cognitive development.
