Dr. Emily White has been appointed associate dean for 91×ÔÅÄ in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine.
She succeeds Dr. Dave Eaton, who has been named an associate vice provost for 91×ÔÅÄ at the UW.
White received a master’s degree in biostatistics and a Ph.D. in epidemiology, both from the UW.
She is a professor of epidemiology and served as interim chair of the department in 1998-99. She is also a member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
White’s 91×ÔÅÄ focuses on epidemiologic methods, cancer prevention, vitamin supplements and cancer, mammography, and the origins of several cancers — breast, colorectal, bladder, and melanoma.
She will continue her 91×ÔÅÄ and teaching obligations while serving 30 percent time in her new role as associate dean.
